What Companies Need to Know

Straight answers on how Apto works, how the service areas are structured, and how companies can choose the right starting point.

When is the right time to bring in operational consultants like Apto?

The right time is when growth or complexity starts to strain your current operating model. If decisions are slowing down, processes are inconsistent, leadership is stuck in day-to-day execution, or you’re preparing to scale, change direction, or enter new markets, Apto can help. The most value comes from engaging before issues become urgent, so the foundation is built intentionally, not reactively.

Do we need to have a certain premium volume to work with you?

No. Apto can structure the level of service around the business. The team has seen the full lifecycle of an MGA and can advise from startup through more mature premium levels, including businesses beyond $150M in written premium.

How do you charge for your services?

Pricing is customized based on the level of strategic involvement, the service package, and whether the engagement is a focused project or ongoing partnership. The Foundation, Growth, and Partner tiers are intended to make that conversation clearer.

Can you help us with carrier introductions?

Yes. Apto works with carrier relationships and can advocate on behalf of clients where appropriate. The strongest results usually come when the submission story, data, pricing, and operational readiness are aligned before the conversation.

What’s the typical engagement length?

Apto views clients as long-lasting business partners. The scope may change over time, but the aim is to work alongside the client to support both current and future business goals.

Do you provide ongoing support or just project-based work?

Both options can be available depending on the business need. Apto’s preference is to be an ongoing partner, but focused project work can also be a practical starting point.

What makes you different from other commercial lines specialty consultants?

Apto is founded by MGA executives who have experienced the same challenges clients face. The commercial lines specialty world requires specific experience, and Apto’s work is grounded in practical solutions built for that environment.

How do the service packages work?

Apto’s work is organized into three service areas: Product Development, Analytics, and Reserving. Each one can be scoped at Foundation, Growth, or Partner level, so you can start with a focused piece of work and expand into a deeper relationship as your needs grow.

Can packages be customized for MGAs, captives, and carriers?

Yes. The package structure is designed to be clear for sales and advertising, but the work itself should still be tailored to the client’s company type, stage, data, regulatory requirements, and operational goals.

If the right answer depends on the company’s stage, premium volume, carrier relationships, or operational setup, a short conversation will usually be more useful than a generic answer.
